Sharon Norton, Animal Control Officer with Brookhaven Police Department in Mississippi, got a call about an abandoned dog. When she arrived on the scene, she found a starving dog waiting on an abandoned chair by the road. It is believed that the dog belonged to whoever dumped the chair.

Not far away from the chair was a television and an old mattress. It appears that it was all tossed out together by the same person. The dog did not want to leave the chair. It must have been the only thing that he had to hold on to from his family that abandoned him.

Norton offered the dog some treats. He quickly accepted the food that she offered. The dog was very hungry acting like he was not fed in quite a while.

The Animal Control Officer Has Something To Say To Whoever Dumped The Dog

Norton was upset at how someone could be so cruel. She later posted this on Facebook,

“I get a message this morning to go check out this dog that’s in the chair, this is what I pulled up and seen. To the person that dumped this chair, your puppy was waiting for you to come back, slowly starving to death because it was afraid to leave the chair to find food. shame on you for doing this to this puppy.. but one day Karma will meet up with you.”

The dog was taken to Brookhaven Animal Rescue League. He is receiving food and a safe place to sleep. The dog will be examined by a vet and then available for adoption. If anyone has information about who abandoned this dog, they are asked to call the police.

There is always a better way to surrender a pet than abandoning them. If this dog had not been found, it may have dehydrated and starved, while it died a lonely death. If an animal is to be given up, there are animal shelters in most towns that will gladly take the animal in.
