Furry Nation Salvation, an animal rescue organization, received contact about a cat living in a tiny birdcage. Apparently, the cat had been living there her entire life. The rescue people knew that they needed to go and investigate. They hurried out to see if they could help the cat, if the report was indeed true.
When the Furry Nation Salvation people arrived, they found the cat in a very dirty bird cage. It was so filthy that there was no room for the orange tabby cat to even rest. The team quickly went to work to free the cat of this miserable existence.
First, they cleaned the cat and put on flea medicine to remove the fleas that had infested on her. Because she had lived so long in a tiny cage, the kitty could not walk very far at one time. She had a bad case of muscle atrophy from not exercising.
The cat was taken to a veterinary clinic so that she could be treated for her ailments. It was found at the clinic that she had bladder, upper respiratory, and skin infections. This was due to the life that she was living in the dirty little cage.
The Once Flea Infested Cat, Purred Loudly Once Cleaned Up and Hugged
Tonja Heer was one of the rescuers who saved her. She said, “Once we got her home she received a flea bath and got a dose of flea preventative on. As my 2-year-old held her while she dried, she purred very loudly, like the sound of a dove.”
The cat was given the name Holly Peppermint. Her story was shared on Facebook. It did not take long for this sweet cat to get adopted by a kind woman named Caril Whiting.
I’m happy to report that it’s now been several years since Holly Peppermint was adopted. Holly’s cruel existence is now long in her past. She is living the life that every cat deserves while being adored and loved by her human family.
