Sadly, dogs just don’t live forever. Duke, the famous and smart Retriever mascot of Bush’s Baked Beans has lost his battle with cancer. The sad news of Duke’s passing came from a friend of the family.
Duke’s real name is Sam. He is the puppy who would play the “Duke” character in advertisements. The friend of the family who shared the sad news said, “Most know him as ‘Duke’ the Bush’s Baked Beans dog. His name is really Sam. He lived in Apopka with his companion Susan his proprietor. She prepares creatures to work in plugs. Not only hers but other dogs too. Unfortunately, she needed to euthanize Sam yesterday because of a forceful malignancy he was experiencing. Here is a photograph from his more promising times.
“He was an exceptionally unique canine to all who at any point knew or had the delight of meeting him. He is and will be remembered fondly.”
The Character Of Duke Will Continue On
Bush’s Baked Beans made a statement and posted on Twitter Tuesday. It stated,
“We continue to be overwhelmed by fan interest and their love of Duke. The relationship between Jay and his beloved dog Duke is the embodiment of the BUSH’S brand and has been a part of our family story for more than 20 years. During that time, we’ve worked closely with several dogs who portrayed Duke in our commercials, including Sam. While Sam has not worked with us in years, we are saddened by the news of his passing and are grateful to have had him depict Duke. Because Duke is iconic to BUSH’S and so adored by our fans, we will continue to use him in our ads.”
Thankfully, the Duke character will carry on. Because animals are such a bright spot in people’s lives, it’s wonderful that Duke will still exist. Therefore, more dogs will get to play the part that Sam played while continuing to win the hearts of millions.
