For those of us who love our animals, when one goes missing, it can be one of the worst experiences of our lives. Well then, it’s easy to imagine that for a little girl, it’s even more challenging to deal with losing a pet. That’s why, after he was missing for three full years, the video of a little girl reunited with her favorite feline has the internet in tears.
Here’s their story:
Claudia Arnold isn’t that old yet, you see. She was born in Nanaimo, British Columbia in Canada. At the time, her family already owned the big tomcat named Cursor.
Well, we have all seen when an animal picks their favorite person and vice versa — that’s precisely what happened with Claudia and Cursor. The two became the best of friends and were inseparable.
That is, until Claudia was two years old, at which point, Cursor, her very favorite cat in the whole world, went missing.
“Cursor was in our family before Claudia was born, but as soon as she came along he was her best buddy,” said Claudia’s mom, Kara Arnold. “Until he went missing they were almost inseparable.”
Suddenly, though, without warning, Kara’s daughter was heartbroken. Little Claudia couldn’t understand what happened to her best friend.
So, like any good mom, Kara scoured the neighborhood for Cursor — hoping against hope that she could find her daughter’s kitty.
Kara hung up photos of Cursor, both in her neighborhood and online, hoping that social media could help her family.
COME HOME, CURSOR
Sadly, as the years rolled by, Claudia didn’t think about Cursor any less.
“Whenever she got sad about anything else she would cry for him as well,” Kara said. “Whenever she cried for him I would repost his missing poster on our local lost and founds pet Facebook page.”
Now, it’s easy to think that after three years, we wouldn’t hear from Cursor again. However, luckily, Kara never gave up hope.
You see, thanks to Kara’s most recent post on social media, she received a phone call. The call was from the local Nanaimo SPCA. Someone saw Kara’s post and recognized the kitty in the photo. Now, all Claudia had to do was go pick up her best friend.
Though they didn’t tell Claudia that’s what was going on. Instead, thankfully, they rolled the camera so they could share the experience with the rest of us.
In the video, which we posted below, you can hear the shelter worker asking Claudia if she liked cats. Of course, she responds that she does indeed like cats.
Then, the worker asks, “well, did your cat look like this?”
As you can see, Claudia recognized her best friend instantly.
