Grumpy Cat has died today from complications she had following a recent UTI (urinary tract infection). She was only 7 years old still considered young.
We all know her as Grumpy Cat, but her given name was Tardar Sauce. She quickly became an internet sensation after her uncle posted a photo in 2012. Her naturally snarled face instantly went viral.
Her fame has brought the family millions from her internet stardom. She was featured on Friskies branding promotions, a TV-movie with Lifetime called Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever.
Grumpy Cat’s owner Tabatha Bundesen, made the announcement of the cat’s passing this morning on the cat’s Twitter.
Describing the grumpy cat as her “baby” and part of the family brought many to tears.
“Despite care from top professionals, as well as from her very loving family, Grumpy encountered complications from a recent urinary tract infection that unfortunately became too tough for her to overcome,” the family said in a statement posted to Twitter. “She passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, May 14, at home in the arms of her mommy, Tabatha.”
The “Grumpy Cat” stardom had become less than sparkly after the mediocre response to Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever.
Obviously, we were all still huge fans and since her passing, we have sent many responses to Tardar’s family.
“So sad to hear this, your family has been a constant source of entertainment for me and my children” -gamer2
“Besides being our baby and a cherished member of the family, Grumpy Cat has helped millions of people smile all around the world—even when times are tough,” Grumpy Cat’s family said.
“Her spirit will continue to live on through her fans everywhere.”
