As children, our parents always tell us not to play in the woods. When you are a child, you usually question them or beg to differ. It turns out that our parents had a good reason not to let us play in the woods. After playing in the woods in Powhatan, Virginia, two little girls got lost. Although their parents were absolutely frantic, something saved the day!
When two little girls went missing while playing in the woods, their parents looked for them for more than 45 minutes. Scared as can be, they called the police. As soon as the police arrived they let their K-9, Bane find them. It only took him 15 minutes.
The family reunited in joy, thanks to this amazing German Shepard. The police department was equally as satisfied with their K-9. Powhatan Sheriff’s Office posted this on Facebook:
Maintaining a K-9 program is expensive and very time consuming and that is why many agencies the size of the Powhatan Sheriff’s Office do not have one. But incidents like last night’s two 8-year-old children being lost in the woods are why the Sheriff keeps the program going strong.
They continue, “Parents and neighbors had valiantly been searching the woods for the children for 45 minutes in the fading daylight when the call was made to the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies (including K-9 Bane) joined the effort in short order. Within 15 minutes of K-9 Bane entering the woods, he was able to track and locate the children. As soon as the children were home safe, he was back on patrol eager for the next call for service.”
Finally, they say, “Job well done K-9 Bane!”
