These ten celebrities make the world a better place for animals

Many celebrities find causes that they support that are close to their hearts. We know for a fact that there are a ton of them out there supporting all sorts of political causes. However, we located ten celebrities that have taken things above and beyond when it comes to animals. Of course, we want to make sure they get the credit they deserve.

You see, we know that animals don’t have a voice of their own. As animal lovers, we all do what we can. However, when a famous person raises their voice, millions listen.

Ian Somerhalder, who you might recognize from the show Vampire Diaries, has a heart of gold when it comes to animals. He started The Ian Somerhalder Foundation for that very reason.

Happy #nationalpuppyday from me and this little guy. Puppies are amazing, they remind us to be present and happy. Unfortunately adult humans send their older pets to the shelter to be put down or adopted or put them on Craigslist to make room for puppies around the holidays… It’s not fair. If you or someone you know have done this or intend to do this please discourage them. Pets are members of our families and do NOT deserve to be abandoned or hrown out for new little ones…

Third, we have everyone’s favorite former Star Trecker — Sir Patrick Stewart. You see, Stewart fostered a Pitbull named Ginger in 2017, and she changed his life.

Meet Emma, our new foster girl from the beautiful folks at Wags and Walks. She’s terribly sweet, and so so good….

Like most of us, Stewart realized that Pitbulls have a bad rap as a breed. So, he decided to do something about it.

Fourth, we have the mega-famous Leonardo Dicaprio. Unlike most everyone else on our list, Leonardo’s primary concern is wild animals.

Now, many of us know this actress from the uber-popular show X-Files — Gillian Anderson. Instead of aliens, however, in real life, this amazing actress stands up for animal rights.

Last week I got to do something really amazing. I visited @pawsitivechangeprogram’s first ever Juvenile Justice program & met with the girls, the trainers, and their pups. I’ve followed this program for ages, but to see it firsthand was really something. In adult prisons, @pawsitivechangeprogram pairs inmates with rescue dogs, and the humans train the animals to be trusting, communicative, and learn skills that will serve them outside the facility walls. (And the animals train their humans to be emotionally open, collaborative, and learn skills that will serve them outside the facility walls.) It’s drastically reduced recidivism and violence, and this is their first juvenile program. The girls learn how to train their dogs, communicate with each other, and share their emotions and experiences. I sat with them, shared some of my own stories, and was completely blown away by the girls’ intelligence and dedication to improving themselves and helping their dogs. Every juvenile facility should have access to programs like this. If you’re inspired, please follow @pawsitivechangeprogram, donate, and support. We’re all in this together.

Kristen speaks up often in support of adopting instead of breeding and shopping. Additionally, she also works with a program that puts rescue dogs with prisoners in a Pawsitive Exchange Program.

Now, you can’t possibly have a list of the ten celebrities that speak the loudest for animals without our next personality — Ellen Degeneres.

Happy birthday to my wonderful wife Portia. As a birthday gift, you can follow her on Instagram: I love you and our family.

Posted by Ellen DeGeneres on Thursday, January 31, 2019

Ellen, along with her wife Portia de Rossi supports animal welfare organizations from coast to coast. Together, they have donated millions to help feed shelter animals using Ellen’s pet food brand Halo.

I’m thankful for my wife and I’m thankful for my critters.

Posted by Ellen DeGeneres on Thursday, November 22, 2018

Together, the couple has adopted many animals. Additionally, recently, Portia surprised Ellen by starting the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund. That fund protects endangered animals like the mountain gorilla.

“I wish we lived in a world where caring for animals wasn’t so rare that it deserved an award. All I do is treat animals with the respect and dignity they deserve. I hope someday soon, everyone does the same,” said DeGeneres.

Finally, we are going to round out our list of the ten celebrities who speak for animals with Jon Stewart. Now, we might think that this late night funnyman is just that — funny.

However, he is so much more than that.

It’s me, Tracey! Please come follow my bestest, newest, biggest project ever @thedailysqueal (a project of Hockhockson Farm Foundation)! The couple paired up with Farm Sanctuary and turned their property in  New Jersey into an animal sanctuary.

Stewart still likes to joke around, though. He said:

“I’m a little uncomfortable. I’ve spent the last 20 years immersed in the world of Washington politics and the media landscape, so I don’t know how to deal necessarily with people who have empathy.”

And there you have it, folks. A lot of people think Hollywood types should stay out of politics. However, here at Animals Being Cute, we realize that without the voices of these famous people, our beloved animals would have an even tougher go of things. And that’s never okay.

To thank these ten celebrities, share this with your friends.
